Anthony J. Titone began arbitrating cases for the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) in 1975. As a certified Arbitrator for the NASD he has received advanced training to be the Chairperson of the panel and always serves in that capacity. In 1994 he received employment law training from the NASD and then in 1996 he completed the participatory arbitrator skills program sponsored by the NASD.The NASD lists some 20 cases wherein publicly available awards have been made by a panel chaired by Mr. Titone. His skills listed on his NASD disclosure profile range from common stocks to real estate investment trusts. His panel also handled the landmark employment retaliation case (Rhodes v. Met Life) that lasted for 11 sessions. This case dealt with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Florida Human Rights Act. Recently, Mr. Titone completed training to qualify as an arbitrator in the Circuit Courts, throughout the State of Florida.
Mr. Titone has also served as the sole arbitrator on a number of cases for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. His name was selected from a list of approved arbitrators to handle grievance appeals by deputies who have been fired and/or disciplined. In such cases, he is selected by both parties to the proceeding (i.e. the Deputy and the Sheriff) and his opinion is final and not subject to any further appeal.
In 1994, Mr. Titone completed training to become a certified mediator. In September 1994 he was certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit Court Mediator. His certification number, which is still in effect, is 6155R. Since receiving his certification, Mr. Titone has mediated hundreds of civil cases pending in the Circuit Court as well as before the NASD. His NASD mediators certification number is A02232. His mediator disclosure report with the NASD lists his primary style as a mediator as “facilitative”.
In 2003 Mr. Titone completed training to become certified as a Florida Supreme Court Arbitrator pursuant to the Florida Rules for Court-Appointed Arbitrators. He now regularly performs Arbitrations for the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County, Florida.
In in 2013 Mr. Titone became certified as a Supreme Court of Florida Appellate Court mediator.
